BRADFORD, a place once associated with the dark satanic mills of Victorian England, is to get a £2billion makeover.
The city has more than 5,800 listed buildings - many of them former factories - and this great heritage is being used to create some stunning residential properties. More than 3,550 apartments are being created in the centre alone where, despite steep price rises, property remains affordable.
One big fan of the city is Bradford-born designer, Linda Barker, who is excited about the new life being breathed into the Victorian buildings.
She said: "Four years ago the council unveiled a masterplan by the world-famous architect Will Alsop, which opened people's eyes to the potential of Bradford.
"The designs being created here are truly inspirational.
Bradford, once poor and forgotten about, is entering a fashionable phase, challenging a new generation looking for the ultimate in city chic."
