BAUCIS and Philemon may not be names we readily associate with Glasgow, but that is set to change. For these characters from Greek mythology have been the inspiration for a unique residentia

The latest venture to be unveiled by NV Properties, the Baucis and Philemon development will consist of only two exclusive, highspecification homes which will include frieze art created by sculptor Alexander Stoddart.

Farahbod Nakhaei, director of NV Properties, explained: "This piece of ancient allegory is a story of Greek gods in search of true hospitality and the recognition of a selfless generosity of spirit.

This was the same spirit shown by our ancestors when building what we now consider our priceless built heritage.

"We aim to approach all of our projects with this spirit and seek to create buildings that not only unify functionality, colour and style, but at a more subtle level become instruments that generate warmth and influence lives for the better, and perhaps one day could be considered as worthy pieces of our future built heritage.

"We are creating a unique piece of architecture that not only pays homage to Glasgow's long tradition of architectural vision and is at one with the timeless grandeur of Glasgow's West End, but is also life enhancing."

The Baucis property will be a spherical house with a spiral staircase while the Philemon will be rectangular in design.

Both will be fourbedroom homes with en suite facilities for the master and second bedrooms.

In the Baucis home there will be a Jack'n'Jill bathroom linking bedrooms three and four while the Philemon home is to have a separate bath and showerroom.

Specification for both properties is to include wiring for integrated home automation.

And even the gardens for these homes are being carefully created by landscape designers and will include features such as natural stone paving, timber decking, water features and outdoor lighting.
