THE number of Brits living in homes worth more than £1million has trebled in the last five years.
There are now around 88,000 of them in England and Wales, up from just 30,000 in 2002.
Colin Kemp, managing director at Halifax Estate Agents, said: "£1million property sales are now taking place right across England and Wales and not just in London."
A total of 6,170 properties in England and Wales sold for at least seven figures during this year to the end of June from 2,249 in the year to June 2002.
