Work from home without comprimising space or style
The new Enterprise Homes development

WORKING from home and avoiding that daily commute has become increasingly popular in recent years.

Now a unique development in Fife is getting serious about the growing trend.

Enterprise Homes have launched a development of 27 luxurious four-bedroom houses which include business accommodation.

But this is very different from the idea of converting a study, spare bedroom or garage into a home office or workshop. These homes, in the village of Cardenden, come with a downstairs study-office or reception area that has its own main door and acts as a lead-in space to the full work area upstairs, which has enough space and data points for nine workstations. It even has its own cloakroom.

Sandy Jack, managing director of Enterprise Homes, said: "There is nothing like this on the market at the moment and we are confident that we are offering a real solution to people who often have to compromise on their living space when running a business from home or pay out for costly premises which can be some distance from where they live.

"The upstairs space would make an ideal dance studio, art gallery or workroom, or accommodate desk-based businesses."

The properties in the Bowhill View development also have a double garage complete with a remote-controlled door.

Designed to have easy access into both the house and workspace areas, the garages could take on the extra role of stock room or equipment store.

Fuel bills are likely to be comparatively low as the properties incorporate efficient underfloor heating systems.

The residential aspect of these buildings provides high specification, spacious family accommodation. Layouts include breakfasting kitchens with french door access to the garden. There is a family or dining room and the lounge also has french doors, this time providing access to a patio. A shower-room and utility room complete the downstairs layout.

All four bedrooms are upstairs. Three have in-built wardrobes and, as new-home buyers would expect, there is an en suite plus a main bathroom.

The specification includes power showers with body jets and foot massagers, radio and an integrated seat. Kitchens are fully fitted with integrated appliances including double ovens and five-burner gas hobs.

Wiring for integrated sound and vision is another standard feature. Prices for these home businesses start at £288,000.

Worth noting, too, is the fact that although Cardenden is a reasonably small village, it has excellent amenities including a library, community centre, swimming pool and leisure centre, post office, bowling green, schools, hotels and shops - even a rail station with a direct link into Edinburgh.

To give an inside view of this new dimension to home working, the builders have plans to stage an open day at the development in the near future.
