A HOUSE for sale near Forfar in Angus holds a special place in the country's industrial heritage.

Mill of Tannadice, on the banks of the South Esk, was one of the first properties in Scotland to have an electric light system powered by a mill wheel. The system continued to be used up to 1951.

Despite its title, the property was originally a farmhouse. On the market through agents Savills at offers over £335,000, it has two reception rooms, dining kitchen, utility and cloakroom.

There are four bedrooms upstairs, a dressing room and a bathroom.

A brick-built garden room is linked to the house by a gravelled terrace. Also included is an outbuilding with potential for conversion or garaging.
