Work from home in style

Work from home in style

ALTHOUGH there has been a significant increase in the number of people opting to work from home in recent years, this double life can have a major drawback.

The business area can encroach on the living area.

But a development being carried out by Enterprise Homes at Bowhill View, Cardenden in Fife, is overcoming this problem - with a measure of style.

For this development features family sized four-bedroom homes complete with 46 square metres of in-built work space on the upper floor - and business consent already in place.

Spacious enough to house nine work stations, the area is large enough to be used as a dance studio or beauty salon - and has the benefit of a separate toilet and cloakroom.

Another asset for a business venture is the fact there is a downstairs area which has its own front door making it ideal for use as a reception space. Of course, if the upstairs space is not required as a work area it can always provide extra living accommodation for extra bedrooms or a games room, even a fitness suite.

When Enterprise Homes announced this unique development in autumn last year, the concept won attention from a broad range of people keen to enjoy the convenience of home working and the freedom of avoiding the daily commute to and from work.

Now interest in this development is likely to increase further as the company has introduced a specially tailored package of incentives on selected plots.
Combining the role of a work base, these are still very much well planned family homes carrying a high specification level.

Selling from £288,000, they come with a breakfasting kitchen which has french doors opening to the garden.

The lounge also has french doors leading to a patio. There is a formal dining room or family room, a ground-floor shower-room and a utility room.

Three of the four bedrooms have in-built wardrobes, and there is an en suite and main bathroom.

But it is not only in terms of layout that these homes are in step with today's changing lifestyles.

Sandy Jack, managing director of Enterprise Homes, explained: "These properties also have a reduced carbon footprint and significantly lower heating costs through an efficient underfloor heating system.

"There is a double garage, too, insulated and draught proof, with a top-of-therange remote controlled door, if you need to store stock."
