Posted: 2009/05/15
IN less than two decades, Dunfermline-based Richmond Homes has become a housebuilder famous for some of the most luxurious and technically advanced properties to be unveiled on the Scottish
Now the company is hitting the expansion trail. Becoming keenly aware of current trends, Richmond Homes is setting up a new dimension to its business, a separate division which will concentrate on the redevelopment of older properties, private new-builds and home extensions. But the fi rm's bosses will not be turning their backs on the luxury new-build homes that have put them among the market's elite.
Deborah Talbot, marketing director with Richmond Homes, said: "We will continue to build new homes in our sites in the Borders and Cupar, but the surge in homeowners investing in their properties, rather than moving, has encouraged us to take this step.
"A lot of clients are existing Richmond Homes owners who feel comfortable returning to the original builder for additional work.
"However, we are also getting calls from people looking to appoint a builder with the expertise to take a project from inception, through planning and to completion.
"This is where we have the expertise to deliver. Richmond Homes has a reputation for quality and service and we will take these values across to our new division. It is an exciting time and we are looking forward to growing the business."
Builder Jim Fairweather is to head the new division and clients will get the benefit of Richmond's design and planning resource and project management as well as their building expertise.
Richmond Homes first began making an impact on the Scottish housing market in 1990 and rapidly acquired a name for building topbracket properties.
They were one of the first builders to introduce househunters north of the Border to hi-tech houses which incorporated as standard Living Home Technology and including pre-wiring for fast nternet access and the latest home enter tainment systems.
Although designed very much with the accent on the best of home comforts for the future, their properties have also updated the fi nest details of the past such as beautiful cornicing, dado rails and natural stone fi replaces.
Their development programme includes Trynlaw at Cupar and Stagehall at Stow, where they have taken luxury to a new level with designs that feature a sauna in the main bathroom, sun lounges, and private balconies.
The new division will now build on this high level of luxury Its current programme includes a range of interesting restoration projects such as the historic former Carnegie Trust building, Comely Park House, in their home town of Dunfermline, and Jordan Bank Villa at Jordan Lane in Edinburgh.
