Charity starts at home for Ms Daisy

CHARITY worker Daisy Adams, 50, got help from the Thames Valley Housing Association to buy her first home at the Park 25 development in Redhill, Surrey.
She had been renting locally for years but was able to buy after inheriting a small sum from her parents.
"Thames
Valley Housing put me in touch with mortgage brokers and I got a
Halifax loan on a five-year fixed rate," said Ms Adams.
She
bought a 25 per cent share in a two-bedroom apartment for £50,000,
paying a deposit of £8,000 and raising a mortgage of just over £42,000.
She pays mortgage interest and an affordable amount of rent to Thames Valley on the remaining equity.
She can "staircase" to full ownership by buying additional shares in the property.
Thames
Valley Housing administers more than 13,000 properties in London,
Middlesex, Berkshire, Surrey, Hampshire, Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire
and Sussex.
All properties are available to qualifying applicants on a minimum annual income of £18,000 and maximum of £60,000.
