TWO leading names in the property world are joining forces to bring new life to the last remaining bonded whisky warehouse in Leith
FairBriar and the Fife-based Muir Group are combining their skill and expertise to carry out an £11million transformation of the 40,000sqft warehouse at Water Street in the Shore area.
Combining under the banner of FairMuir, they will carry out the venture which is to be known as Maritime Bond.
It will create 44 flats including loft style apartments, with many character features retained.
Simon Lear, managing director of FairBriar plc, commented: "This unique development is the culmination of more than two year's effort between ourselves and our joint venture partners, the Muir Group."
Alan Muir of Muir Group, said: "Muir also relishes this opportunity to be involved in the redevelopment of the last bonded warehouse in Leith and it is exciting to work with another company which shares our ethos for good design.
"Within the six storey bonded warehouse FairMuir will create 32 loft style apartments and three penthouses with eight apartments and a penthouse within a new building.
The refurbished section will have a private rooftop terrace."
A high specification level will be standard throughout and will include Cat 5 data cabling.
There will also be cabling for wall mounted plasma television, Sky+ and surround sound.
Agents Knight Frank will be handling marketing.
